The Problem
It can take too long to get ready in the morning these days. Upon waking up, our first instinct is to check our social media apps and lie in bed for those extra ten minutes. But we've all been there. We get out of bed only to realize that we have no idea what to wear, consequently leading us to start our day late before the day even begins.
Wrobe aims to aid users to get ready faster in the mornings by functioning as their virtual wardrobe while also cultivating the user's unique style. Save pictures of previously worn outfits and check what others are wearing for inspiration.
The Solution
The primary objective was to address the user's main concerns before getting out of bed.
A user might ask themselves:

-
What's the weather like today?
-
What kind of outfit am I looking for?
-
What other colors go well with this outfit?
-
What have I worn in the past?

On the home page, the user has access to convenient functions that answer these questions.
Under the "Outfits" tab, the user is presented with the weather and organized folders of the type of outfits they are looking for. The "Showcase" tab displays what is only visible to the public, keeping your other outfits private. Lastly, the "Guru" tab generates colors that compliment the existing pallet that helps users to brainstorm more creative ways to dress and layer.

The secondary objective was to offer resources outside of the user's closet to cultivate their style. Users can see what others are wearing by taking advantage of the explore page and saving outfits that resonate with them. See what your friends are wearing for the day and post your own to inspire others.

My Role
Led the design, user testing, and development from end to end. Surveyed and periodically evaluated user feedback that was integrated into incremental revisions. Produced both low-fidelity and high-fidelity mock-ups via Figma to develop and maintain the user experience.

USER INTERVIEWS
Conducted a total of 15 user interviews to gain insight into people's familiarity and interest levels with their daily apparel. The user group consisted of 8 guys and 7 girls. Each user interview included seven (7) questions which are outlined below.
-
How interested are you in fashion? (very interested, somewhat interested, not interested)
-
How conscious are you of your daily apparel? (very conscious, somewhat conscious, not conscious)
-
What factors have prevented you from exploring clothing styles in the past?
-
How would you want to use the app?
-
What types of tools have you used in the past?
-
What did you like or dislike about it?
-
How long does it take to get ready in the morning?
SYNTHESIS AND INSIGHTS

“As a guy, I feel like it's difficult to get into clothing. The entry level seemed intimidating so I never really bothered.”
“Other apps are nice for exploring but that's about it. Since these apps aren't made for fashion, it can be time consuming to find what I want.”
“To just pick an outfit, it can take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes to get ready in the morning.”

3. High-Fidelity Prototype
Developed a high-fidelity, clickable prototype in Figma. Click here to interact with the final Figma prototype where you can journey through what a morning could look like from Steven's perspective.
Takeaways
Learning how to distinguish between aesthetic design and functional design. Each component of the app was created to serve a purpose that needed to be obvious to the users. There were many moments during this project where I caught myself designing for the sake of making something look nice. However, these were vital moments where I grew to think more like a designer than a decorator. This was one of the most important takeaways from this project.
